We’ve had two full days in Edinburgh – just enough time to refresh our memories of the highlights of the city: Edinburgh Castle, Holyrood Palace, the Royal Mile, the Old Town & the New Town, and the National Gallery of Art.  The weather pretty much cooperated – overcast and cool enough for pleasant walking.

We have a nice little hotel at the upper end of the New Town, at the base of Carlton Hill, which makes for a quiet stay and the hike to the top provides a great 360 degree view of the whole city.  We’ve wandered around, found a pool for me to swim in (and which mom almost got arrested for taking photos in!  No child pornography!!), had very nice meals and excellent sleeps to get over our jet lag.

Tomorrow we’ve a long day of sightseeing and driving planned en-route to Ballachulish, which will be our base for our week’s hiking holiday in  the Scottish Highlands with HF Holidays.  We’ve got our fingers and toes crossed in hopes the rain stays away!
