Day 8: MSC Lirica – At Sea

going through the Strait of Hormuz. That’s Iran behind the tanker

A very slow news day. We have 564 nautical miles to cruise through the Persian Gulf to our next port, Bahrain, so we have a full day and night at sea. Many passengers took advantage of the opportunity for a lie in, the decks were empty this morning when I went up for my pre-coffee laps around the walking track. When they all emerged from their cabins it was to feast on the buffets and roast in the sun. I think every possible deck chair was put into use today. I stuck to my walk, eat, read routine. Finding quiet corners of the ship to read, and either walked the corridors or the covered outside decks of level 6, avoiding the craziness. Pre-dinner my phone is telling me I’ve walked 6.3 miles already today but I’m sure that’s impossible. Perhaps it’s being confused by the forward motion of the ship into giving me more miles. But I have climbed lots of stairs. That I can certainly feel.
