I promised myself to take a day off walking once a week so as not to overdo it and invite further injury. Originally I had planned to take the bus from Ramallosa-Vigo (yesterday’s itinerary) because I had read that it was an awful slog into Vigo but I didn’t and to my pleasure, it wasn’t. Then the forecast for today was 100% rain so I figured this would be the perfect day off.
Of course the forecast was overly dire and it’s not raining today, merely overcast but I still made the right decision to rest. The bus station was just down the street from my hostel so I had a little sleep-in this morning, booked my bus ticket for 11am and sat for a long time in a little cafe enjoying breakfast and people-watching in this little workaday corner of Vigo.
Redondela was just 30 minutes away by bus, and my albergue just a minute or two walk up the street. And who was there already waiting? Kelly, the girl from the Netherlands I’ve seen at each of the last 4 albergues. Her walk today was dry but the rain started to fall just as the albergue opened and it continued to rain on and off all afternoon.
There’s a cozy nook off the kitchen here so she and I are ensconced in comfy chairs sipping tea and reading our books passing away the day.
