Thanks to COVID-19 all my many adventures in 2020 have been cancelled {sad face}, so without any international travel to look forward to I came up with a plan for a socially-distanced vacation: car camping in the National Parks!
I’m starting off with a few days in Sequoia/Kings NP’s checking out the big trees and amazing views before heading up to Yosemite NP for several days of hiking. I have a basic yet expensive motel room for the 1st night as it’s currently 100° at 7pm as I write this and thus too hot to camp, but I will rough it from here on in. One night somewhere in the Sierra National Forest tomorrow, then 3 nights in a proper campground at a higher (therefore cooler) elevation, followed by 4+ nights “wild camping”. This means I’ll drive around remote Forest Service roads looking for a flat place to pull over and stay for the night!! I’ve downloaded several apps that people have kindly listed the campsites they found so I’m confident {fingers crossed} that I can locate one or two of them.

In keeping with the Socially-Distanced theme, I’ve prepped all my food for the trip including dehydrating enough veggies and beans to feed an army! It took me a full day to compile what I’m sure will be delicious & nutritious meals; if not, I’ve packed 2 liters of a decent red wine to wash it all down with!

Tomorrow: visiting the Generals!
