Day 3: Isle of Wight

Coronation Day! I’d hoped to go sightseeing this morning but it started pissing down rain right after breakfast so I stayed warm & dry and watched the procession and ceremony on TV for a few hours.

By 12:30p King Charles was wearing his crown so I took my chances and ventured out in the drizzle to the bus station. No great plans today other than to see the northeast coast by bus.

I hadn’t really thought this plan through thoroughly because although the driver had lovely big windshield wipers to maintain a clear view, my upper deck window did not. It was rain splattered and fogged up and my ride to Ryde was basically a blur.

Disembarking in Ryde I had 30 minutes till my connecting bus so I wandered up the High Street, taking pictures of coronation window displays.

The #8 bus looked to have a excellent route hugging the eastern coast of the IOW so I prepared myself and my camera for some awesome views. Alas, t’weren’t to be found. Housing estates, farms, and spotty glass was all I witnessed the next 1.5 hours.

I defeat I returned to Newport, picked up some roasted chicken and a baguette for dinner and settled down to watch a Midsomer Murders marathon.
