Rest Day 2. I’ve made a recovery plan: rest. Not entirely original but I still have 2/3’s of my walk left and I want to complete as much as possible so I need to rest my injury for it to recover. So, with accommodation already booked and a good bus system in place, I’ll just hop ahead until I can walk again and I’ll be leaving myself a nice chunk to return to walk in the future.
It took two hours by bus to get to Port Isaac as there were innumerable little villages inland we stopped at on the way. However I was quite happy as the bus had raised seats in the back which offer great views over most hedgerows, and my connecting bus was a double-decker and I scored a front row seat! It’s nice to complement my seaside walk with glimpses of rural Cornwall: green fields, small villages, dry stone walls, farms and wildflowers. Excitement comes from when bus and approaching cars try to pass on these narrow one lane roads!

And I bumped into Deidre & Gareth again! I last saw them 2 days ago, just before my shin gave out. They’d been keeping an eye out for me, not expecting me to be in Port Isaac before them (they’re very fast walkers). We compared our walking plans and I very well might see them again.

Port Isaac is world famous for the Doc Martin TV series. As a fan, I’d planned a full day off here anyway so I’m going to track down as many filming locations as I can tomorrow. Oh, and I’m staying in the Old Schoolhouse where Louisa taught!
