SWCP Day 40: The Lizard > Coverack

The most southerly point in Britain, the iconic Lizard Lighthouse features in every visitor’s pictures. It was a 1/2 mile walk down from my BnB, then east I go!

Looking back south at Lizard lighthouse
Hold-on-to-your hat windy today.
Really pretty day. “Lush, well-vegetated character” according to my guide
Cute village of Cadgwith. House on right getting completely covered in scaffolding in preparation for re-thatching
More ponies
The only beach today and only open cafe(s). Arrived just at lunchtime and huddled in the small shelter provided by the patio’s half wall to eat my meal. The lifeguards were kept busy keeping the danger flags upright
At noon the clouds disappeared and the wind dropped – for just over an hour the walking was pleasant then boom, 1:15p and it’s “cinch down the hat till strangulation” time
One or two tricky climbs but otherwise a good walking day
Outskirts of Coverack via a lovely, verdant forest offering a so welcome respite from the relentless buffeting wind. I stopped still for several minutes just Forest Bathing, listening to the sounds of nature and relaxing 😌
Started at 8a, arrived in Coverack at 2p. Can’t be bothered to go out for dinner so having tea and cookies for my meal!
