It was a late start for walking as I had to cross Falmouth harbor first. The earliest ferry to St. Mawes was at 8:30am, then I needed a second ferry at 9:15am over to Place. Not starting until 9:30a made me feel rushed most of the day. I knew there were lots of miles to make and a chance of afternoon rain so that little voice kept saying “go, go, go” and I had to remind myself that for me speed = shin splints.

It was easy and very attractive walking around St. Anthony’s Head with beautiful views over to Falmouth, and then along the coast.

At 6.3 miles I came to the only town on the stage: Portscatho. I only spent long enough to buy a mini baguette and pâté for lunch, which I enjoyed on the next bench I came across but obviously I missed the memo cause everyone was at the Hidden Hut at the next beach over. I’ve never seen such a busy and pretty beach cafe: each table had flowers as did the serving bar. There was a pizza oven plus 4 boards of menu items. My little sandwich paled in comparison.

At 9.2 miles I was drooping in the high humidity but an ice cream magically appeared in my hand from the cafe at Pendower Beach! A nice treat on a hot, sticky day.
At 10.8 miles I started up steep stairs on my way to Nare Point and the sweet, sweet gusty wind started = nature’s A/C.

After Nare Point the Path was newly diverted inland around some large fields, ending at a parking lot and road. Checking my app it showed that this was the same road my BnB was on so I continued on, walking directly there.

Accommodation was difficult to find for this area, I had to settle on a BnB about a mile inland from the coast. It’s in the middle of farmland so I stuck some heat&eat pasta packets into my bag that was being transferred so I have something for dinner!
