I’m hiking “forward” once again. Yesterday was Wembury back to Plymouth so today should be Wembury >. However a lack of morning ferries from Wembury had me starting from Noss Mayo, just on the other side of the River Yealm. I have a schedule to keep as there’s a tide-restricted wet crossing of the River Erme in 10 miles which I only have an hour’s grace either side of the Low to make. I should be fine but can’t dawdle!

It turned out to be no problem making the low tide, the first half of the day was easy walking on a gentle carriage way; the second half was more moderate with some good little climbs and narrow, overgrown trail.

I arrived at the Erme River at 1:50p, with low at 3:15p. Since I’m more vertically challenged than others I chilled on the beach until 2:45p then crossed with water just up to my knees.

I’m staying at pub 1.25m inland tonight. It’s a one-horse town and I’m lucky it’s Friday as this is the only night of the week they serve food – pizza!
