Today I started walking at the outrageously late time of 12:22pm! The reason? I had to see a dentist first (abscess, it’s always something with me) and then get the ‘script filled. This was in Seaton, today’s destination, so I walked backwards to Sidmouth.
“No Time For Mints!” was my mantra today. The phrase dates back to my last job. The PA before me was Xmas shopping with the boss who was trying to keep to a tight schedule and told the PA “no time for mints” when she went to reach for a complimentary candy at a checkout counter.
The section is rated as a Strenuous then Severe day with lots of steep valleys and probably 6 hours worth of walking. The problem was the 2nd to last bus back was at 6:33pm and if I wanted to make it There Was No Time For Mints! Also, I took no breaks, very few photos, made no notes and only peed once! I hoofed it, switching between “No Mints” and “Must Catch The Bus” in my mind. Turns out I made the bus by running the last few feet…..at 4:29pm! I guess I could have peed more 😂
As far as photos, it was a grey/overcast day and beyond hearing the waves rolling on the beach below I had few views of it at all. I saw mostly fields, tunnels of trees, and had my nose against my toes climbing those hills.
