The extra mileage I did yesterday meant today became a day off. I was a little creaky first thing getting up this morning so I enjoyed a lazy start of coffee in bed and catching up on the news. By 9:30am I was off to my morning’s appointment…..

Parasailing! It was a perfect morning for it and the sky was full of colorful chutes and the shrieking of fellow thrill seekers. I didn’t even ask if I could use my phone while in flight so I have no pictures of the actual event but we swirled close to the sheer top of the mountain playing in the updrafts for quite a while. My pilot pointed out the high route of the TMB and the pass to which I will climb on Thursday. Then we silently glided back and forth over the town of Chamonix before making a clean landing in the field right by my hotel. Parfaite!

A stroll through town was next, still fairly quiet at 11am with the occasional group of runners jogging by on their practice runs. Some snapshots, some shopping, a little lunch, then a cheeky glass of rosé at an outdoor cafe to while away an hour people-watching the ever increasing crowds. There’s an electric atmosphere here with all the runners and their supporters milling about. It’s a great time to visit.
