Italy Day 3: Stresa

One of Stresa’s grand hotels on the waterfront

Looking to stretch my legs, I decided to follow an “easy walk thru charming villages” up the hill towards Mount Mottarone suggested by my town map.

I gave it 4 miles, to just above the town of Levo, then turned around. It was steep (as always) up thru suburbs and unappealing hillside towns. It was a good workout but I was not enjoying any views and that (+ return) was more than enough pavement for my knee.

I tried to take a hiking path but didn’t get very far
Back to the road route. They obviously get some bad weather here
And….more steep hills
One of the “charming” towns
I turned around after charming village #2
Had a coffee with the gents in Levo, noisily discussing the day’s news
Found a view on the way down
Lots of villas hiding behind high walls

After a nice salad at my apartment I strolled again thru town and relaxed the rest of the afternoon. (Most of the following pics are from Saturday when the weather was better – rain due tomorrow)
