Montenegro/Albania: Day 12

Vlorë

Leisurely start to the day so I had time for another morning walk, this time along Vlorë’s long waterfront.

A simple day today: drive 30 minutes, meet a local guide to hike up to their farm for lunch, with an optional further walk up to an abandoned village.

13 of us continued up to Tragjas, an old village that was bombed out during WWII as it was a partisan base of resistance fighters. It was never rebuilt and all the residents moved down to the village below.

Lunch was enormous with multiple platters that just kept coming including homemade bread, still a bit ashy from the wood fire it was cooked over, homemade cheeses, veggies, and a big chunk of delicious roasted lamb, obviously hacked with a cleaver with more attention to size than “cut”.

Back to the hotel at 4:30pm and since our evening boat ride was cancelled due to large swells we had the evening at our leisure.
