Kotor
I flew out of Venice this morning on my way to Montenegro and a huge thunderstorm erupted out of nowhere as I was waiting to board my plane. Normally not a big deal but this was a little plane that you had to access from the tarmac and the bus had departed leaving us stranded outside as those in the front of the queue took their own sweet time getting onboard and seated. The torrential rain was coming in sideways, absolutely soaking us all – our shoes were asea in water and carryons saturated. The handlers left luggage abandoned in the rain as they took shelter in the belly of the plane. I shared my pocket umbrella with the stranger beside me but it did little more than keep our faces dry as our bodies got drenched. We then had to sit inside the steaming plane (no a/c) until the storm passed. Just an hour late leaving…

After an hours’ transfer in Belgrade, I flew into Tivat, Montenegro and took a taxi to my hotel in Kotor. Finally able to change out of my wet shoes (I could wring water from my socks 7 hours later!) and unpack my suitcase as most of the contents were damp; so if you were ever curious as to what I pack for a vacation c’mon over as it’s draped on every surface of my snug little room!

There’s a mall with a grocery store across the lane so I’m enjoying pâté and a beer on my balcony waiting for dinner time. There’s 3 cruise ships in town today so the Old Town will be heaving; by 6-7pm they’ll all have gone back on board and I can explore town without the crowds!

I just missed the Golden Hour by the time I made it over to town so no good pics yet. I’ll save my deep exploration for tomorrow, this evening it’s sitting quietly watching the shadows from the setting sun creep up the mountain, then dinner.
