Kotor
A slow start to the day but I’d nothing planned but to explore. I wandered over to the Old Town, ~2 minute walk, around 9am but the city was still asleep though soon to wake up as the tourists were arriving in droves. I turned around and instead climbed the city walls (both sanctioned and unsanctioned) to wake up a bit then found a little cafe for 2nd breakfast.

Kotor History – in a nutshell: 2000 years of Romans, Byzantines, locals, Venetians, French/Austrian/Russian/Yugoslavian rule, resulting in a cute walled town at the end of a narrow fjord mega popular with cruise ships and tourists.

Historically Kotor was known as Cattaro, though I like to call it Cat-or, as the felines definitely rule the town. Residents and cafes alike leave out dishes of food for the strays and every souvenir shop has a plethora of magnets, t-shirts, etc emblazoned with a cat face. I’m not a cat person but even I kept my eye out for the scroungers…

Darkening skies and a few rolls of thunder drove me ‘home’ for an early siesta, then back out again at 4pm for a lunch/supper (lupper?) at La Catredal. A very popular restaurant, it had a line waiting last night, so I thought mid-afternoon might be a good time to try it.

I did get a table, even busy at 4pm, and it was as delish as advertised. The thunderstorm returned at 5:30pm so a quick stroll after dinner then home again.
