Montenegro/Albania: Day 8

Not a busy day but a long one. We passed a major brushfire on our way to the border with Albania (just 1/2h away) which cast a haze on all the day’s photos. Unfortunately we’ve seen many patches of scorched forest from fires already on this tour 😦

At the border. We’re going to head down to Koplik then go NE into the mountains
It’s a sudden entry into the Accursed Mountains, it’s a very winding road up
We plateau at a convenient cafe for photo stop

And descend the other side into Teth
Picnic lunch then 6 of us get our briefing for our hike to the waterfall with a local guide
Antonio, spoke no English so we all racked our brain for what little Italian we knew as he had spent some time there. I think Sign Language ended up being most efficient
Only 3 miles return but steep scramble to the waterfall

We didn’t finish our hike until 4pm so the sun was already setting in this narrow valley and we didn’t get into Shkodër until 6:45pm.

A pretty unconventional hotel, basically converted offices with each room opening directly onto the street with no “inside” building at all. I was not best pleased with cars parked 4’ from my door and a supermarket 20’ away across the alley!

Rain due all day tomorrow so plans might have to be altered….
